Bettis Joins Stryker Orthopaedics’ Athlete Roster to Promote Joint Health Awareness in 2016
MAHWAH, N.J., March 21, 2016 – Today, Stryker Orthopaedics announced its latest collaboration with Pro Football Hall of Famer and 2006 Super Bowl Champion, Jerome Bettis. The former Pittsburgh Steelers running back will serve as a company spokesperson throughout 2016, spreading the message of joint health and the importance of mobility to people across the country.

As a spokesperson for Stryker, he will share his personal experience of dealing with joint pain, while also encouraging other joint pain sufferers to make a move and learn about various treatment options that are available to them.
“When I woke up and realized that my knee was bothering me from a simple game of catch with my kids or playing a round of golf, I knew that I needed to address this problem,” said Jerome Bettis, retired NFL player. “Through my new relationship with Stryker, I want to share my personal story so people better understand that there are options to help get them back to their active lifestyle.”
A significant 89% of former NFL players who participated in a recent survey said they suffer from aches and pains on a daily basis.1 As former athletes, many players want to continue to lead an active lifestyle and take up the sport of golf as a way to keep moving – including Bettis.
“We’re excited to add Jerome Bettis to the Stryker team,” said Bill Huffnagle, President, Reconstructive Division, Stryker. “As both a sufferer of joint pain and an avid golfer, he aligns perfectly with our PGA TOUR sponsorship. We’re thrilled to be working with ‘The Bus,’ as we have seen positive association between our ever-inspiring athletes and the Stryker brand. We’re excited to see what’s to come in 2016 and beyond.”
